March & Vigil Details

• Meet at 10:30 am at 2400 Washington Ave in Boston (Nubian Square)
• We will march from Nubian Square to Franklin Park Playstead
• Trained volunteer marshals will lead the march and secure the route
• At Franklin Park, we will hold a vigil and pridefest, with events and offerings including: Tabling by LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC community organizations​ A community art installation in remembrance of transgender community leader Jahaira DeAlto Performances by Candace Persuasian, DJ WhySham, Medino Green, Haus of Snap, Kweeng Doll, Golden, and more! Food trucks and portable restrooms Three accessibility areas: one close to the stage, one for quiet, and one sensory-friendly area Onsite COVID-19 vaccinations

Fundraising

We are marching to celebrate our identities. To show trans rage. Trans joy. Trans power. Trans beauty. We are also marching to raise needed funds for our trans community.

The 2021 March & Vigil supports the Black Trans Lives Matter Campaign, a joint effort with our partner organization, Transgender Emergency Fund. Our goal is to raise $250,000 towards Transgender Emergency Fund's Transitional Housing Initiatiative, which will purchase a property to permanently, safely, and sustainably house and care for insufficiently housed transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people in Massachusetts.

Statement on Policing

​

At TRMA, we recognize policing in all forms as rooted in anti-Blackness, (trans)misogynoir, and the systems of slavery and incarceration. As a collective that advocates for the safety and liberation of Black trans women first and foremost, we reject the notion that police "keep us safe" and refuse to work with them.

While law enforcement is aware of our march plans, police officers will not be invited to the event or asked to secure the march route. We ask that volunteers and participants, whether trans or cis, commit to a policy of disengagement with the police throughout the event.
